Educational Development

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is an international public service sorority. As an organization of college-educated women, we are actively involved in educational efforts. We encourage young men and women to achieve excellence through higher education and to succeed academically, while also maintaining a wholesome social life. Our goal is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people throughout the community through mentoring, motivating, and supporting their ambitions and accomplishments. We developed a partnership with a local elementary school to assist students with reading, as well as challenge students to read with our “Read America” program. As part of our national initiatives we also work with youth through Delta GEMS and Delta Academy.

Since 2015, the chapter has collaborated with the E-STREAM© Summer camp sponsored by Florida A&M University’s Minorities and Retirement Securities financial literacy program. This program provides financial literacy education to students enrolled in the Gadsden County School District’s third grade reading camp. The chapter assists by reading to the camp's participants during the five-week program.

For more than 20 years, Gadsden County Florida Alumnae Chapter has provided scholastic support to local students who exemplify academic excellence, strong leadership, and community involvement desiring to continue their education after high school. With the community's support of the Chapter’s annual fundraising activities, we award scholarships to graduating high school seniors.
